HONCHO
A Japanese word that made its way into the English dictionary, HONCHO is translated as “Squad Leader”, symbolising our aspiration to be the “Head Honcho” among creatives, showcasing and collaborating with talented Singaporeans from various creative industries, such as designers, mixologists, street artists and content creators.
More than just a bar or restaurant, HONCHO is a lifestyle venue that focuses on creative collaborations, and a space for talents and artists to showcase their work, build a community and network. At HONCHO, we believe in honest and genuine collaborations, which is why we’ve teamed up with local creative talents such as PHUNK, Sam Lo, Soph O, Native Bar, Off Day Beer Company, Tanglin Gin and Shōten to collaborate on everything from our uniforms to our space to our drinks and cocktails.
OUR SPACES
HONCHO
HONCHO offers a modern izakaya and omakase concept with fun cocktails and drinks. We’ve collaborated with Native Bar to create cocktails which perfectly complement our omakase menu of delights. Located on the ground floor, savour HONCHO’s monochrome chic, gold-tinged design while vibing to our musical curation of funk, soul, and hiphop.
Jō @ HONCHO
Located on the rooftop, soak in the chill vibes with us at Jō. We’ve collaborated with PHUNK Studio to deck out our bar wall with a mural entitled “Soul”, so you can enjoy conversations under the moonlight while surrounded by art and creativity. We’ve also partnered with Off Day Beer Company to bring you local craft beers that pair perfectly with our savoury bar bites.
OUR PEOPLE
We’ve put together a squad made up of talents from the nightlife industry, all of whom have a passion for the arts, food and cocktails. Our founders’ expertise in the local creative scene and wide business network and skills have melded together to create the perfect intimate space for investors, creative talents and other like-minded individuals to connect, exchange ideas and build a meaningful and inspiring community.
OUR FOUNDERS
Wayne Liu (better known as DJ KoFlow) and Amos Poh are long-time buddies who have come together to conceptualise HONCHO, a lifestyle venue and bar. The turntablist and Fintech entrepreneur were ex-bandmates of the local mandarin Rap-Rock group, Chou Pi Jiang. With over 15 years of friendship forged over music and beers, the two friends shared a vision of opening an F&B entertainment business. HONCHO is the result of that dream.
OUR HEAD BARTENDER — NOREEN
Noreen’s been working her magic behind the bar for the last 8 years where she goes by the stage name Noreen Dunzo. Born and raised in Singapore, she was named one of its top 5 female bartenders in 2015, and was nominated as Best Female Bartender, a coup in a male-dominated industry. She then took a position at frontrunner bar Operation Dagger, following which she became head bartender at Outrage of Modesty in Cape Town. A liquid therapist, she claims the secret to the perfect cocktail is simplicity.
